Hendy helps charity get the show on the road

Automotive group Hendy has shown it has a whole lot of heart…by donating a car to Wessex Heartbeat.

The firm handed over the keys to a brand-new Kia cee’d SW to Ken Wilde from the charity this week. The sleek and sporty Kia will provide a vital lifeline for the charity, helping its events team get to and from important fundraising events.

Ken said: “We are absolutely thrilled with this generous support from Hendy. Our events team has a busy calendar of fundraising events ahead and the car will be so useful helping them get there and set up.

“In the past we’ve had to transport some quite large items to our events; everything from a garden gazebo to part of a car. So the fact the Kia has lots of space is a real bonus.”

The support comes as Hendy announces its support of Wessex Heartbeat for a third consecutive year. The firm will act as headline sponsor for the charity’s popular summer ball and undertake its own fundraising throughout 2018.

Mark Busby, commercial director, said: “Wessex Heartbeat is a fantastic local charity and we couldn’t be prouder to support it. We’re looking forward to getting stuck in with some fundraising and of course looking forward to the summer ball at Southampton Harbour Hotel on June 15.”

Wessex Heartbeat supports the Wessex Cardiac Centre at Southampton General Hospital, as well as the patients who use it and their families. It runs Heartbeat House, a place where family members can stay while their loved ones are being treated close by at the hospital and funds a range of heart health projects.
