Turning up heat at launch of £30m Spark

Lee Peck Media staff came face-to-face with one of the world’s most famous, and feared, chefs this month as they attended the grand opening of The Solent Conference Centre.

Luckily for them, on closer inspection, it was a Gordon Ramsay lookalike…and their cooking skills weren’t up for critique.

Lee Peck Media went along to the official launch of the Solent Conference Centre to show sponsors of the Solent Design Awards, which are being held at the venue later this year, the impressive space. Lee Peck Media is co-ordinating the PR for the 2016 awards, which showcase the very best placemaking in the Solent.

The conference centre has moved to a brand-new £30m building called The Spark at Southampton Solent University’s main campus and benefits from view of the city’s parks as well as futuristic meeting space and state-of-the-art learning facilities.

Among the Solent Design Awards sponsors who got a sneak peek of the Spark venue ahead of the awards evening were Barratt Homes, Taylor Made Computer Solutions and Ford Vignale from the Hendy FordStore.

Lee Peck said: “The conference team put on a fantastic show with the launch event and really gave sponsors of the Solent Design Awards an insight into how impressive their event will be later this year. It’s a fantastic space and the Gordon Ramsay lookalike was a brilliant touch.”

The grand opening event was garden party themed, with 200 guests enjoying entertainment from live band 5th Avenue and a three course meal. Those who attended got the chance to explore the entire building, with various rooms being transformed with themes including a circus room and a 1920s speakeasy.
