Trethowans named law firm of the year

Solent Deals 2019

Lee Peck Media client Trethowans has been named as Law Firm of the Year at the Solent Deals Awards 2019.

It’s the latest industry accolade for the firm, which has offices in Bournemouth, Poole, Southampton, Salisbury, Winchester and London.

Trethowans scooped the award against stiff competition, with judges impressed by both the level of deals overseen by the corporate finance team and the overall growth of the business.

Managing partner Chris Whiteley said: “A key factor for us has been our organic growth over the last five years. A lot of people have joined our firm because our culture makes it a good place to work and because we make sure that financially the firm is in a good position. It was a busy year for us, despite concerns about the potential of Brexit.”

Trethowans’ corporate finance team has advised on more than 30 transactions in the last year, with values from £2.6m to £21m. Among them was work on behalf of the shareholders of Dream Doors Limited in its sale to Neighbourly, a US firm backed by $5 billion private equity firm Harvest Partners, which was also nominated for Mid Range Deal of the Year.

Lucy Gleisner was also one of four individuals across the region shortlisted for the Lawyer of the Year, an award that Sophie Eales won at the same awards in 2018.

Trethowans’ win at the Solent Deals Awards is the latest in a succession of recent accolades. The firm recently held the title of the fastest growing law firm in the UK with a turnover up to £24m. Its reputation as one of the UK’s top 150 law firms has not only seen national success, but also a wide variety of work with local businesses in the Solent area, supporting thousands of businesses and individuals while providing trusted advice and support on a wide range of legal issues.

Reflecting on the latest award win Chris Whiteley said: “Getting good results for our clients is reward enough and it’s what we enjoy most about what we do. To be named Law Firm of the Year on top of this is a real bonus and a really proud moment for everyone involved in the awards.”
